Shoping

Nothing like a little shopping

I like to go shopping when there's no purpose but this time I need shoes or actually a shoe for work for now. Most of the working shoes I have are high heels and that’s out of the question right now.

First I have to say that I’m on a tight budget. I don't buy new clothes or shoes each season. But I also have to admit that I love high heels pumps.

I walk into the shoe store on my crutches knowing that I will find something practical, comfortable and hopefully sexy.

I shouldn’t say that but I am a woman. It will be fun to have new shoes. I know that not all woman feel like that about shoe but I do.

The first thing I see is a pair of 6 1/2 inch pump…Yes 6 1/2 inch…How can woman walk with these and I’m the one in the cast with the broken ankle? You must feel like a ballerina.

That’s crazy.

Then I see a very sexy 3 inch stiletto heels with instep straps…wow…very sexy and totally NOT what I need but they feel so nice under my fingers.

I go around the store a second time and for the first time in my life I realize that none of these shoes are made for the actual shape of a woman’s foot. Sure we look nice wearing a nice dress and these 4 inch heels but are designer shoes made for me?

Yes if I want pain in the foot, sore ankle and toes that are so cramped.

I go around a third and voila…I spot a pair of sandals with no heel with lots of support.
I ask the salesman if they have any in my size. He gives me a look like why are you looking for classy shoe miss while you have a broken leg.

I feel like leaving the store but since I promised myself that I would only do one store…I stay and smile.

He smiles and asked joking

“Left or right?” OMG what a woman in a cast with crutches needs to hear…

I stand up with his helps and position my crutches before taking a few steps. The feel and look fine.

I pay throw the box in my backpack and leave the store.

Finally it's friday night

I look down at my notebook and felt like I was going to sleep. Enough for tonight.

"I'm so tired" Lying on myback. My shouders are so tired from all the crutching around the campus and at work this week. I know it loooks simple to use crutches but its not.

Sitting on my bed I began to strip the clothes off. I toook off my tank top and then I worked on my jeans. Undoing the velcro and then slowly sliding them down my legs and over my cast.

I took off my bra and panties, leaving me naked, wearing only my cast and hopped around my appartment to my bathroom.

I turned on the shower and put my plastic cover over my cast. The shower was steamy like some of my dreams lately. I jump in the shower, the water felt nice all over my body. In no time i got tired of standing on my right leg and realize that I should have a chair in the shower to sit on.

I put some scented shampoo in my hair. Running my fingers through my hair, I began to thin about some of the emails I received the last 2 weeks.

For my own good, I decided to concentrate on what I was doing before falling and breaking someting else.

Jeans

Good morning

Here are a few tidbits to know me better. I’m not a natural student; I really need to study hard to have good grades. I’m 5 10, my favourite season is spring. I alternate between keeping my hair short and long. When it’s long I like ponytail.

I love to dress up, high heels and my favourite colour is purple. 80% of the time I’m usually wearing jeans with sandals.

Today I decided to wear jeans at school with a black tank top. I took an old pair and sliced the side open to allow space for my cast. I’m using a piece of Velcro to keep the pant leg around my cast.

Kinda looks weird but feels great. I feel that my old jeans accentuate my long legs.

I walked around the campus earlier today and notice man and woman staring at me. I realise that they are trying to see why I’m crutches and when they spot the foot portion of my cast showing at the bottom of my jeans.

I don’t usually do anything to acknowledge them starting at me but today I feel so happy that I decide to play the game.

I decide to twirl on my crutches and show her my tight ass inside my jeans on top of my broken ankle that seem to intrigue her.

She smiles

I laugh and smile and move on my crutches.

Coffee

I just read that researchers at the University of Bristol are reporting that coffee does NOT boost you in the morning. Actually, coffee in the morning helps ease caffeine withdrawl symptoms. Withdrawl? Coffee is a drug?

Drug or not I love to sit by the window, my cast on a pillow and slowly sip my coffee. I have no early class today.

If coffee is a drug...what is your favorute drug in the morning?

It's friday....yes

Like most of you, I love friday's. I'm a very upbeat person most time but friday even more.

I have to admit that I'm tired this morning. After a late evening it feels like I just went to bed. I'm sitting on my bed with my cast on a pillow while I write this blog.

I hope I'm not boring you with this blog. I'm very shy in day to day life and I come from a small village where everybody knows everybody. My dream would be to know everybody that reads the blog.

I would like to know what you find interesting and what you don't.

I would like to know where you are from.

Somebody asked me what I hate about being stuck in a cast and what I like.

The best part is that I have very interesting people comming to me or emailing me asking questions and giving wonderful advise. I love it. I'm a person, person and I think I'm fairly open minded.

The worst part of breaking my leg is not being able to go to the gym and play basket-ball. Can't take long walk in the wood. With the screws and everything I’m not sure yet what I will be able to do after all this is over. That's a bit scary but I can't do anything about it right now.

You know what I do when I feel like I do right now...I go shopping. I need some working shoes that will work while I'm on crutches. Most of my working shoes are high heels.

My coffee is ready. I love the smell of freshly brewed coffee.

Have a wonderful day

Our second date

My hair and make up was done. I don’t like heavy make up, very natural, a little blush, mascara, and some eye shadow.

“You look great Amanda” I complimented myself while looking in the mirror but my crutches were killing the look. I put the crutches against the wall and hop to my bed to put on a nice dress. With the sandal on my right foot I was done and ready.

There was a knock, I grabbed my crutches and went to the door, there was my date looking very cute.

“You look great Amanda” he said…Men …all woman like to start a date with You look great, specially the injured one.

He helped me into his car and put my crutches in the back seat. I debated about putting something over my cast to cover my toes but decided against it. I noticed some men and women staring at my toes on campus…

The perfect gentleman he helped me out of the car while I put my crutches under my arms. Keeping my knee bent with the cast off the ground we slowly made our way inside the restaurant.

“This way please” he led us to out table and took my crutches away.

“Do you want your broken ankle on a chair” he asked me

It would have been better but since I was wearing dress and I decided to keep my leg down

It was a wonderful evening. At the same time it was obvious that we are at 2 different places in our life. He’s finishing a master degree. I’m starting my BA and we come from very different background. Our interests are quite different on more level that I want to discuss here right now.

He kissed me and thanked me for a nice evening but we both knew that there isn’t going to be a third date.

Que sera sera

On the bus

I was getting on the bus today to go to my part time job and before I could sit the bus started to move and I lost my balance. My body shifted awkwardly and my broken ankle slammed against the metal part of the seat.

Cast or no cast my body tensed. I shifted to regain my balance but I could feel pain from my broken ankle, my face was twisted, wincing and trying to resist the pain.

“Sorry” I heard driver yell. Yeah right.

I sat and tried to keep my cast higher up to release the pain. I sat there with my eyes partly closed and I realised that the next few months were going to be long at time.

My sandal

This is so funny. You know that I’m really shy in real life. Here I was sitting in class. You have to picture this…the class is like an auditorium…multiple level.

I love to be bare foot so I took off the sandal that I was wearing on my right foot during the class.

While moving around to get comfortable, I accidently pushed my sandal down a few step with my cast. I was stretching with my right leg trying to get to my sandal without having to get up and disrupt the class, when the guy in front of me noticed my sandal by his feet.

He took my sandal and turned around and put it back on my foot. Just like Cinderella…

He leaned towards me and said “Cute cast” I felt like saying what’s cute about it but I was so red that I didn’t say anything. Some people were looking in my direction and so was the teacher.

At the end of the class he turned around and helped me up while I took my crutches.

“Thanks” I said

“Care for coffee?” He asked me out of nowhere. We have never talked before.

“I can’t, I need to go home and get change before going to work but thanks for the invitation”

“OK see you around” He said and I left. Feeling him stare at me from behind or maybe wishing he was…I’m not sure but it was fun.

I love university life

I have to go catch the bus…

Ps the pop quiz was easy this morning…I worried for nothing…better safe than sorry

Shower

Yes it’s Thursday… I just finish taking a nice shower. It’s easier with the plastic bag over my cast. I quickly washed my hair standing on one leg but it felt fantastic. Sitting on my bed I decided today to wear baggy sweatpants and a t-shirt. Easier with the cast.

I want to be comfortable today, especially with my little test this morning. I feel relax about the exam but I’m nervous about my date….Weird

I’m ready for the day.

I wish you all a great day.

Last night dream...I need a life...

Maybe tonight is the night that he will make me drop my crutches and pull me closer to him and then he will undo my bra and cup my breast while I moan….yes right that’s Harlequin fiction not something that happen in real life at least not to me.

A woman can dream...

Enough I need to start getting ready

What to wear ladies

Good morning

I have a date tonight. Second date. What should I wear? It’s hard to look sexy when you have a broken leg in a cast and using crutches. I don’t go out much during the week between my classes and working.

I find it hard to decide on what to wear tonight. We are going out in a lovely restaurant. What did you wear mostly when you broke your leg?

Surprise, surprise

Back home we call these spot quiz. Not much warning with only one night to prepare. I was almost having a slight panic attack by the time he let us loose and I grabbed my crutches.

Where was the warning? Should I quit my part time job? The answer is I can’t afford to quit, I need to do both.

I went home, breathed, ate something and started to study for tomorrow morning. This is so much not my style, if I can help it; I never leave any school work or studying to the last minute.

By barricading myself in my room with my cast on pillows, and telling myself that I could do it I manage to calm down just in time.

The moral of all this is to stay calm.

I will be ready for his quiz

By for now
Amanda

PS. This teacher loves to look good, beautiful suits. He’s so cute…sorry

PS2. I forgot to tell you that I have a date Thursday night…I will tell you later

Is this what we call networking?

I think that being in a cast and using crutches is a great networking tool…no kidding. Please.

Since I broke my ankle the people around me are super friendly, helpful, encouraging, supportive and fun. Some of them are strange but it’s the minority.

The only problem I have with all this is …I remember reading a quote from Eleanor Roosevelt…”Great minds discuss ideas; average minds discuss events; Small minds discuss people”

I ask you…where does that leave me with my blog? Ouch…. I'm having fun writing in it I hope that you are enjoying reading it.

Bending over in the libray

The library is in a convenient place for me right now. I just sit there in the corner away from everybody with my cast on a chair beside me. Whenever I feel pain in my ankle I try to think ahead when I will be able to go back to the gym.

Go to the athletics centre to keep in shape and in my case it will be to get my ankle back in shape. Working out is also such a great way to relieve life stress and yes…sometime meet interesting and good looking men.

A few minutes ago I needed to go get another book okay. So I got up on my good leg and then bent down to retrieve my crutches that were on the floor…Giving somebody a great view of my ass in my tight skirt.

A man came over and asked me if I needed help.

“Can I help you?” He asked

“No I’m fine but thanks for asking.” I replied feeling so foolish with the way I did it.

“How long with this?” he asked, pointing to my cast.

“I just broke my ankle a few days ago” I told while I positioned my crutches under my arms and moved away.

My next class is way across the campus so I need to get going.

My part time job

I have a great part time job in a small accounting firm close to my apartment. I love my office…I should say my little cubicle. I will be decorating it soon. I normally can walk to it but it’s a bit far on my crutches.

I know that I’m really lucky to have my job. When I showed up with my broken ankle they were all so nice to me.

Lunch time...later

PS Thank you for the emails. I love them and I reply to all

Who are we?

I’m on my way to class and while looking around me, I realize that a lot of students are like me…amaze, confuse and new to this fast life.

Basically what it is to be a first year student. From academic expectations, part time work to parties. I’m very shy and don’t party much.

I’m fairly quiet woman. I have to go to class. I will connect later on

The Simple Things in Life

You don’t realize how things you took for granted before become difficult when you break something. I was just standing on one leg in the bathroom and this morning I decided to take a bath.

I sat on the floor of the bathroom and I slipped my panties and pyjama down and past my cast. Hopping on my good leg I manage to sit in the tub with my broken ankle propped on the side of the tub.

Not the best way to take a bath but it felt good.

After that I stood up and wrapped a towel. Hop back to my bedroom only to realize how long the exercise took me. It’s seriously time to get dress.

Don’t take anything for granted…it could be gone pretty quickly.

University

Did I tell you how much I love University?

I know that I’m probably boring you with my university story but you have to understand that I come from a small village and to go to the University is so important.

I’m still attending all my lectures. It takes me a bit more time on crutches but I do. I was so happy when I got 92% in a test yesterday. That’s pretty good for me.

To completely change the subject – I’m praying for the people of the Philippine and Indonesia. What’s next weather wise?

Back on later, I need to get ready.

The Piano

I was on my crutches keeping my cast off the floor when I heard a piano. Here I am sitting with my broken ankle up on a chair at lunch time, I’m listening to a woman playing piano in a music class. She is amazing.

Some people have lots of talent.
Back to my books.

At School

“Sorry I’m late Mr…But I’m still learning how to use my crutches”

Good excuse for now anyway. I felt strange standing in front of everyone on my crutches weariong a skirt…maybe that wasn’t the best thing. .I was too busy chatting about my accident before making my way on my crutches towards room 212, that’s why I was late.

Poor little me people kept saying but after the post lately…I’m fine when you compare to others.

People are staring at my toes at the end of the cast… weird…

Lateeeeeeeeeeeeeee

I’m so late and it’s not the fault of my broken ankle, it’s the snooze button fault. I kept dreaming of prince charming. I know, I know…Eh give me a break I’m sore this morning.

After putting on my old skirt and white blouse I hop around the apartment to get my crutches. I know I’m late and I shouldn’t be my blog but I feel happy today and I want to share.

“I’m not just late…I’m so late…” Here I go to university for the first time since my accident. Wish me luck…

My toes

I gently lifted my broken ankle on to the coffee table, resting it on a pillow. I want to paint my toes, cast or no cast. A nice red…hummm cute…just kidding, I need to rest.

Sweet dream...stay away from high heels...

hop along

My apartment is fairly small and i'm still mastering my crutches so I often just hop around the rooms on my good leg while careful not to bang the toes at the end of my cast.

That would be painful.

Life goes on

Emails

Thank you so uch for the emails. I love to read them.

After reading lots of your emails today, I realized that I’m almost lucky to have only a broken ankles versus some of you…It will be 9 weeks on crutches and cast for me.

Good luck to all.

Nurse Heidi

I want to say thank you to nurse Heidi.

You know something; It was such a strange feeling when Nurse Heidi wheeled a wheel chair close to me. I got that needing feeling, helplessness or something like that.

She helped me into the wheelchair and gave me my crutches. I couldn’t stop staring at my cast covering my leg and wonder. John helped me up once we got to the car and he helped me sit in the back seat and then gave me back my crutches. My ankle was so sore.

New life…

I need to get back to my old life and start studying.

Why me?...Why now?

My life was so good.

After a beautiful supper, we leave the restaurant hands and hands when going down some steps, I loose footage and roll my left ankle off my black stilettos heels. I knew that I was in trouble because I could not stand on my left foot.

He carried me to his car like the perfect gentleman. I was in pain but I kept telling him that it was just a sprain and there was no need to go to the hospital.X Rays told a different story. Both the tibia and the fibula are broken. They tried to realign my bones but let me tell you something…never again. That was so painful and at the end they had to operate anyway.

Now I have screws, cast and crutches.

I can’t stand on my cast at all, non weight bearing or something I was told and honestly right now it’s so painful that I don’t think I would even try walking on it.

But what happens after that?

Has anyone else felt like this or broken ankle or leg? I know i'm not the first one but it's all new to me.

Hope to hear from others that want to share their experiences

I feel like Cinderella but I lost a lot more than a slipper.

Oh Cinderella, Cinderella…get your crutches and move on…
